Talented Dallas chef Tim Byres is currently saluting Teddy Roosevelt at The Theodore. Byres is known for adopting various personae over the years. Eve-Hill Agnus described Byres as “a man I came to see as a method actor as much as a chef” in the feature she wrote about him.

On Friday, Feb. 29, Byres will represent American cuisine at the official launch of the USA-China Tourism Year in Beijing, China. The trip is led by the Department of Commerce and the China National Tourism Administration.

According to the press release:

The USA-China Year of Tourism will officially launch via a formal gala in Beijing to include high-level political participation from both the US and China, with the purpose of highlighting the United States and its offerings. A future event in the United States will highlight China later this year.

Byres will be there promoting the cuisine of The Theodore. He will serve a three-course meal and deliver a speech to “China and US’s top-tier government officials, media members, embassy staff and travel industry representatives.”

Will Byres get inspired in Beijing and return with a new personality and restaurant idea? We can only hope so.
