royalblue2Just off the phone with HPV empresario Ray Washburne. Last night he inked a deal with the Royal Blue Grocery, a popular Austin “urban market.” The 5,500 square foot store will open in a space at the end of the territory formerly occupied by Tom Thumb on July 1. Update: The storefront will face Preston Road.

“It’s going to be so cool,” Washburne says. “It will carry all of the basics and have a deli counter and other cool stuff.” Currently there are five locations of Royal Blue Grocery in Austin. The shelves are lined with unique coffees, meats, “grab and go” foods, and beer and wine.
