Meat Fight is back. And the annual Texas barbecue competition, benefiting the National MS Society, is meatier than ever. This year’s event is billed as a “meat carnival” and will feature four teams — sixteen chefs total — competing for barbecue victory. Chefs participating include:

— Cody Sharp, Standard Pour
— Nathan Tate, Boulevardier
— Janice Provost, Parigi
— Eric Dreyer, Fearing’s
— Jeff Bekavac, Neighborhood Services
— Danyele McPherson, Remedy
— Oliver Sitrin, Blind Butcher
— Andrew Dilda, Barter
— Chad Houser, Cafe Momentum
— David Uygur, Lucia
— Patton Robertson, Five Sixty
— Omar Flores, Casa Rubia
— Graham Dodds, Hibiscus
— Brian Zenner, Oak
— Eric Shelton, Cafe Momentum
— Anastacia Quinones, Molina High School

So who has the honor of judging this delicious event? None other than some of Texas’ most knowledgeable barbecue aficionados: Daniel Vaughn, Barbecue Editor at Texas Monthly; Aaron Franklin of Franklin Barbecue; Justin Fourton of Pecan Lodge; Jack Perkins of The Slow Bone, Tim Byres of Smoke and more.

Tickets cost $95 for general admission and $175 for VIP. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste all of the meats in the competition, sip on Four Corners beer and indulge in an assortment of snacks (Chef Katherine Clapner of Dude, Sweet Chocolate is making bacon-flavored cotton candy with bacon from Lucia).

In addition to face-stuffing, there will be meat-themed carnival activities. There’s “meat toss” (think cornhole, but meatier), “porko” (Plinko with pork) a meat mystic predicting meat fortunes, meat caricatures and more.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1 and can be purchased here. You might want to set an alarm if you have your heart set on attending, as tickets sold out in a speedy six minutes last year.

“We have raised the price of both GA and VIP, and we’ve increased the number of total tickets from five hundred to seven hundred and fifty in hopes that that will slow things down this year.” Meat Fight founder (and Dallas Observer, James Beard award-winning columnist), Alice Laussade explains.

Meat Fight takes place on Sunday, November 16 at Trinity Groves. All of the proceeds go directly to the National MS Society.
