At the corner of a neighborhood Wal-Mart, there’s a small, not-easy-to-spot Jerusalem market and grill for all your kosher needs. Milk & Honey is sparse in terms of decor, save for some Mavs gear and newspaper clippings on the wall. For 6.5 years, it’s been at this 420 Coit Road location. Before this, it was at Arapaho and Hillcrest for 7 years. Now it’s a half-restaurant, half-market, and people like visiting on Fridays when the chef sells spinach, potato, and mushroom bourekas for about a dollar each. These puff pastries are topped with sesame seeds and baked in the oven until they’re lightly brown on top and bottom.
On Fridays, you can also get chocolate cookies sprinkled with powdered sugar and oval Mexican cakes for $6.99 per dozen or 65-cents each. They look, essentially, like Russian tea cakes.
