Lots of great stuff happening this weekend! Lots of great wine happening this weekend, too. Just remember to pace yourself and you’ll make it out of the next few days unscathed.
FRIDAY
GrapeFest started yesterday, but you still have the whole weekend to nose your way through a cacophony of varietals from over 35 Texas wineries. That’s not to mention all of the food, carnival ride,s and other entertainment that await you at the festival. Don’t miss out on stuff like the Champagne Terrace or the Grape Stomp, either. It sounds like a blast.
SATURDAY
Pugs have never been the most beloved creature, for reasons I don’t understand. They’re small, have squishy faces, and adorably goofy eyeballs. What’s not to love? If you’re like me, you should check out the Senior Pug Wine Benefit at The Art of Wine. Admission is $10, you get 4 to 8 tastings, and all of the proceeds will go to the DFW Pug Rescue. This is a dog-free event, which at first sounds a bit hypocritical, but makes sense when you consider Fido drooling into your glass of Moscato. Dress up or down for the occasion.
Enjoy the sounds of Beatles tribute band A Hard Night’s Day at Sambuca Grill. Not many tributes enjoy the same success that these guys have had, but the original band had a few fans of its own. Enjoy Sambuca Grill’s American fare while taking a trip in a yellow submarine.
SUNDAY
Come to the Plano Icehouse for the International Wine and Food Festival. A handful of notable chefs, including Sharon Van Meter of 3015 Trinity Groves, Fernando Torres of Urban Rio, and Yutaka Yamato of Yutaka Sushi Bistro, will cook up dishes while guests taste a variety of wines. Part of the proceeds benefit KidLinks Foundation, which provides support for critically ill and handicapped children. A delicious evening for a good cause. That’s the definition of a win-win.
