Bits & Bites: Things to Do and Chew in Dallas

|

Okay, munchkins. Don’t be lazy this weekend. I’m basically spoonfeeding you everything you need to know so that, when a hot coworker asks you on Monday, “What did you do this weekend?” Your answer will at least help you carry on a decent two-minute conversation with the woman of your dreams instead of the usual “oh, nothing” that ends with a facepalm.

Saturday

For you early birds, consider hitting up the St. Michael’s Farmers Market on 8011 Douglas Street. There’s going to be pie, Holy Kombucha, and the best tomatoes you’ve ever tasted.

Eat brunch with Tiffany Derry at Private | Social. For $20, there’s an all-you-can-eat buffet with a carving station, omelette station, blueberry and ricotta pancakes, and Rocco’s $6 cocktails. Starts at 11 a.m.

Don’t forget it’s the last day of Belgian Beer Week at Flying Saucer. Go get your Belgian waffles and Beermosas from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Deep Ellum Outdoor Market is celebrating its two year anniversary by closing down Main Street. Only foot traffickers allowed. It’s going to a monster food truck rally + market + concert event from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Sunday

Not much to look at on Sunday. Just the Deep Ellum Brewery Co. tours. Still, it’s a pretty great deal, and maybe the boys there will give you a sneaky taste of the two new beers they’re launching: Blonde and Wealth & Taste. For $10 you get free beer, a look-see, and a glass to take home.

Funday Monday

Jim Bean Bourbon Dinner at Sissy’s sounds like a good night of Southern eating and drinking. Chef Jeffery Hobbs is creating a five-course dinner menu that’ll feature select Jim Beam spirits. We all know that anything tastes good with Sissy’s fried chicken, but bourbon is probably high on that list.
