Are You a Foodie or a Food Snob?

So, you think you’re a bona fide “foodie”? You love, love, love food and read cookbooks and food blogs looking the latest and the greatest culinary revolution. Some food snobs might downgrade you to “gloating gourmand” or a “curious epicurean.” In many circles, the term “foodie” is reserved for folks whose knowledge transcends the love of food. Foodies are food scientists. They live and breathe the alchemy of cooking, eating, and drinking. You can take a quiz to determine your level. I like this sorta easy one and this hard one.  Once you’ve  determined your place in foodie-eat-foodie chain, I have some news for you.

The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, the “world’s premier culinary college,” is introducing its first-ever weekend classes for “food enthusiasts.” The weekend programs are hands-on cooking classes and wine seminars for people who love to eat but don’t want to be a chef. (Or chefs who don’t want to spend years earning a degree.) Just think of your status in the food community! After attending “Street Foods of the Middle East,” you can be snide and snarky–a real-life Anthony Bourdain or Cat Cora–at your next dinner party. The program is so Dallas it’s hard to believe it is taking place in Northern California. Group trip?  Here’s all you need to know.
