Tour an Eco-Friendly Home for a Great Cause

You'll want to pencil this one in.

It seems there’s going to be a home tour for every kind of interior design interest this month. Well, we’ve got another one to add to the list. For those of you interested in transforming your house into a “green” space (no, we don’t mean the color, though that would get us talking), The Village Park Eco Home will be available for touring.

Like many of the other home tours in Dallas, this one benefits a worthy cause: The Make-a-Wish Foundation. One of the bedrooms was specially designed for Cassidy, a nine-year-old child suffering with a life threatening illness. The Make-a-Wish Foundation recently granted her wish — to be a zookeeper — and the bedroom reflects her experience.

The house was outfitted with rugs from Dallas Rugs, home furnishings and window treatments from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, and art from La Montage.

The Village Park Eco Home is open to the public for free tours on Saturday (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Sunday (noon to 5 p.m.) until May 11. While there is no fee to enter the house, donations will be accepted for the Make-a-Wish Foundation of North Texas. For your convenience, you can park at the Marketplace at Highland Village shopping center and a shuttle will take you to the house.
