Following news that Dallas posts the second-highest TV ratings for Premier League matches of any market in the country, and the Londoner winning a contest as the best bar in the U.S. for the purpose of watching said soccer league contests, lately Dallas-Fort Worth has been looking like a hotbed for fútbol fanatics.

Why then, when U.S. men are taking to the pitch tonight at Toyota Stadium with a trip to the Olympics on the line, have ticket sales been so slow that general admission had to be reduced to only $10?

There’s an even a local — Emerson Hyndman, who hails from Plano and now plays for a club in England, and who’s grandfather was a former SMU and FC Dallas coach — on the roster. Do locals only care for soccer when it’s served with a British accent and a beer early on a weekend morning?
