So, I guess it’s spring break. I know this partly because my best pal Pam is visiting me from the frozen tundra of New York during this nice time off from law school.

If you have kiddos, Oil & Cotton has a couple week-long camps that might appeal, including one called Calder’s Circus. It’s educational and creative playtime, since kids will make circus characters out of wire and other materials to come up with a fully functional Big Top at the end.

Summer Shakespeare festivals are, for obvious reasons, fond of producing A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is probably why I have a Pavlovian instinct to put on shorts whenever I see that someone’s doing a production. But this one, happening at the Winspear Opera House’s Hamon Hall, is part of Shakespeare Dallas’ staged reading series, which should allow you appreciate the language that goes into creating the popular story of a love quadrangle complicated by meddling fairies. Tickets are ten bucks. Prior to the reading, I recommend snagging a bar stool at Savor for a snack and a drink.
