Not one of the pizzas you can get for a buck, but still delicious-looking.

Once took the Tony. I’d say I told you so, but that’s a lot like bragging.

Everyone’s favorite social media-savvy pizzaioli is giving away $1 pizzas tonight at Cane Rosso. SideDish has details, but dinner service starts at 6 pm and the deal lasts until 9 pm. I don’t even want to think about how long the wait might be (Nancy’s got her post tagged under “mob scenes”), but hey, if you have a hankering for a nearly-free Marinara or Margherita pizza, go for it. No BYOB, though, and also, do not stiff your servers. Tip like a nice human.

Meanwhile, the Angelika is playing a beautifully restored print of Grand Illusion, a classic of French cinema from director Jean Renoir. It was released in 1937, amid the rising tension of Germany’s Third Reich, but it’s set directly after World War I. It’s an anti-war film to be sure, but it’s more than that–beautiful and human and often quite funny. Peter has a wonderfully written review over on FrontRow. I wouldn’t miss this chance to it on the big screen, especially since the unparalleled Film Forum in New York is screening it at the same time. We’re so cool.

Also this evening, the Frisco RoughRiders, the double-A affiliate of our Rangers, take on the Midland RockHounds. You can catch the next-and-coming stars without trekking out to or parking in Arlington.
