Dallas Police Department Abandons George W. Bush’s Preston Hollow Home

|

Okay, I may have made that sound a tiny bit more dramatic than it is. Here’s the deal: the Dallas Police Department, which had been stationing one tactical officer on the street outside the former president’s house in Preston Hollow during every shift, has decided to stop doing that. Why? Because, like everyone else, the city of Dallas is holding onto its effin’ hat. The tactical officer would have cost the department around $300,000 over the course of one year. But it’s not like Dubya is unprotected now: he still has the Secret Service detail, and tactical units are still nearby. They’re just not out front, drinking crappy coffee, eating sunflower seeds, and having long conversations about 1970s sitcom characters.
