The Best Sandwiches in Dallas According to Me

|

Those who know me know of my fondness for sandwiches. It’s my favorite food group. I have, over the years, developed a roster of regular sandwiches at local sandwich places that I rotate almost weekly. Here, then, is that roster, in rough order of frequency:

P.D. Johnson’s. Spanky J on white, no tomato. (Ham, turkey, bacon, green bell pepper, lettuce, onion, and cheddar cheese.)

Jersey Mike’s. No. 2 (Jersey Shore Favorite), Mike’s Way, no tomato. (Ham, provolone, cappacuolo.)

Great American Hero. No. 6 (Great American Hero) on jalapeno cheese bread, no tomato. (Genoa salami, bologna, baked ham, and provolone.)

NY Subs. No. 15 on white, no tomato. (Peppered beef, capicola, provolone.)

Jimmy’s Food Store. Italian Sub on white, no pickles. (An assortment of Italian meats that are unknown to me yet delicious.)

Texadelphia. Texican. (Beef cheesesteak with queso.)

Great Outdoors. No. 3, “works, no tomato.” (Turkey pastrami and substitute cheddar instead of provolone … heated on a cold day.)

Jimmy John’s. (Note: I have not decided upon a regular sandwich here, as I go from the Vito to the Italian Night Club to the Country Club.)

Antoine’s. Original. (German salami, ham, provolone, chow chow, pickles.*) *to be removed before eating.

Urbano Paninoteca. Smoked Mozzarella and Prosciutto. (With spinach and extra olive oil.)

I’m sure I’m forgetting some, but compiling this list has made me too hungry to continue. Please add your own. No tomato.

Update: I knew I forgot one. Philly Connection Cheese Steaks. Original. Small, unless I’m feeling gluttonous.
