“Hi, I’m Annette Strauss,” she said. After introducing myself, I asked, “Where is the restroom?” Mrs. Strauss guided me to it, and to my surprise, we entered together!
Once inside it was instant camaraderie. Her side was out of tissue paper, so I passed her the roll that was on my side. Sitting there ever so briefly, 1 said, “Gosh, this is neat! Wait until 1 tell my kids, I went to the bathroom with the Star!”
Her daughter, Nancy, had walked in. I was using a paper-towel to clean the splashed water off the top of the sink. She told me that I shouldn’t have to do that, it was more her duty. “I do it at home!” I said.
Those few brief moments somehow endeared me to these two Strauss women. For the following sixty days, I had found a home away from home.
