THE L WORD

Darrell Jordan says Tom Leppert’s pants are on fire. Jump for the fun of it.

April 27, 2007, Dallas, TX:  In an attempt to misinform Dallas voters, mayoral candidate Tom Leppert has used his campaign war chest to produce radio advertisements that use loose language insinuating multiple candidates are proposing a tax increase on Dallas residents.

In his most recent paid advertising blitz, which has been distributed by direct mail and on broadcast radio, Mr. Leppert uses a local celebrity to make a false and misleading statement about raising taxes.  Mr. Leppert’s advertisements state, “Some of the candidates are calling for a special crime district.  Well, I have another name for it.  It’s called a big, new tax.”

The truth is that only one candidate, Max Wells, has called for a “big, new tax.”  No other candidate in the Dallas mayoral race has publicly supported this tax increase.

“After I explain the truth to voters, many of them tell me they are disappointed that Mr. Leppert would use cheap politics to try and confuse them,” stated Jordan.  “Mr. Leppert and his political machine have deliberately tried to misinform the voters with this attack.”

Darrell Jordan’s campaign is officially requesting that Mr. Leppert immediately apologize to Dallas voters for lying.
