Freeze: Dallas Gardens At Big-Time Risk

This may sound counter-intuitive, but the best protection right now is to water your garden. Roots in a well-watered garden can tolerate freeze much better than those in dry soil, says Rebecca Winn of Whimsical Garden Designs. But you need to do it before the big freeze gets here. Also, Winn says, cover your plants, especially new plantings. If it gets below 10 degrees, they could be goners. The most vulnerable: cyclamen. (If you have cyclamen in pots, bring them in.) Here’s hoping that the weather forecasters are wrong again.
