You can head to Round Top any time of year to stay in one of the area’s quaint bed-and-breakfasts, eat a piece of outrageous pie at Royer’s Round Top Cafe, and drive around the surrounding areas to scour the antiques shops. But if you are a serious shopper, you need to plan ahead if you want to stay anywhere close to Round Top when the Original Round Top Antiques Fair rolls into town. The sprawling event takes place in April, June, October, and January and attracts thousands of dealers from all over the world.

After 45 years, the show has grown so big that the massive number of items are now displayed in different venues. The signature Big Red Barn is home to American and European antiques, the Continental Tent features European items, and the Carmine Dance Hall is where you’ll find the fine linens, early American furniture, and silver collections. Just make sure you have good walking shoes, a sense of humor, and a couple of cans of Red Bull in your bag.
