Thumbs down to police chief Mack vines for his ham-handed attempt to cover up an embarrassing blunder. Apparently, Vines is so committed to the war on drugs that he didn’t even bother to read the expensive 132-page “comprehensive strategy” for fighting drugs he had ordered- After the report was released inside the department, Vines realized that portions of it would embarrass him-especially sections dealing with substance abuse among some police officers-and ordered the expensive paperback document recalled immediately. Let’s hope the chief’s a quick editor; they’re getting away out there.
