Top 5 Pins This Week

Pretty as a [Pinterest] picture.

A quick study of the week’s most popular pins is always a pretty good indicator of what’s on top of people’s minds right now. This week, it was pools. Yes, we did just pin quite a few palatable looking pools, but people were really digging them. It is Memorial Day Weekend after all, despite what Dallas’ weather is telling us. People also apparently like cactus art. Let’s dive in, shall we?

May:June 2013

1. Pretty Pool #Uno

The entirety of this Highland Park home’s design evolution is worth a glance, but we’re satisfied to soak up the beauty of this gorgeous pool all on its own. If I ever have my own private pool, I hope it will have an identical pergola.

2. Pretty Pool #Dos

In my humble opinion, all pools featured in the pages of D Home are gorgeous and I want to swim in them. But this pool, featured in our May/June 2008 issue, is (in that same humble opinion) the prettiest. The potted flowers are what really put it over the edge. To contest my theory, feel free to check out some of our other picture perfect pools and pick the one you’d most like to dip your toes into.

Cactus Art

3. Cool Cacti

Cacti are cool. You could also chalk it up to the start of summer, but I think people just like cacti. They’re super easy to maintain, and extremely photogenic. I hope that someone, somewhere, someday says the same thing about me.

Bar cart

4. Pour Us Another, Please

Bar carts are always fun to look at. Probably because they’re always associated with good times. Happy hours, wine nights, holiday parties… there’s a bar cart there. Though the extravagant ones are always interesting, my eye tends to gravitate towards the more simple ones, like this Terrace Bar Cart from West Elm. Its straightforward design let’s the glasses and booze do all the talking.

kids room

5. Baby Picassos Live Here

One of my favorite parts about looking through old D Home issues is finding incredible kids’ rooms. Some are just really spectacular. One such room is this one from the March/April 2013 issue. The fun wallpaper, colorful cabinets, and playful carpet would spark the imagination of any kiddo. I bet some serious Lego building goes down in this room.
