COVID-19 Bulletin (08/02/21)

More than a quarter of all ICU patients in North Texas have COVID-19.

Trauma Service Area E has 1,550 COVID-19 patients in its hospitals, representing 11 percent of all bed capacity and 28 percent of ICU patients. At the end of June, there were only 368 COVID-19 patients in the region’s hospitals, DFW Hospital Council CEO Steve Love reports.


On Friday, Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported 726 new COVID-19 and five deaths in Dallas County. 


The Dallas Morning News published an editorial about the folly of forcing employees back to work as the Delta variant rages throughout the country. It was written by Gleb Tsipursky, author and chief executive of Disaster Avoidance Experts.


Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin’s COVID-19 Modeling Consortium said that most regions of the state could experience hospitalization rates that will max out hospital capacity like in January, the Texas Tribune reports.
