Reps. Michael Burgess, MD, (R-Texas) and Gene Green (D-Texas) have introduced legislation that would establish state laws requiring hospitals to disclose price information for inpatient and outpatient procedures.
House Bill 1326 also would require insurers to provide enrollees estimated out-of-pocket costs for healthcare services upon request. The American Hospital Association has endorsed the legislation.
