I’m still trying to figure this out. Channel 11 just sent out a release saying that Tracy Rowlett’s last day on the air will be tomorrow. They will air a retrospective of his 45-year career on the 5, 6, and 10 o’clock newscasts. That’s not the confusing part.
Earlier today, Chesapeake energy sent out a release saying that Rowlett will host something called Shale.TV, which ain’t even up and running yet. To me, it feels like Rowlett — one of the most respected Dallas journalists ever — just got into PR. Especially because Julie H. Wilson, vice president of corporate development at Chesapeake, says in the release: “This is not a corporate promotion or public relations initiative.”
I’ll try to get Rowlett on the horn and ask him what’s what.
