June 29 is National Bacon Burnt End Day. According to this website, Travis and Emma Heim of Heim Barbecue created this food holiday. There seems to be a food holiday for everything. So this makes sense, I guess.

Anyway, the barbecue joint is celebrating by offering bacon burnt ends, a dish they first served on June 29, 2013, during a pop-up dinner. And they currently serve regularly. These things are good.

Just wanted to let you know, in case you’re looking for an excuse to eat some sticky, smoky, hunks of pork belly. (Yeah, these burnt ends are made of pork.) Heck, I say indulge in all of the burnt ends on June 29. We have so many to choose from in North Texas.

You know what. Take it even further and indulge in all of the barbecue that day. National Barbecue Day was May 16, but I’m declaring June 29 National Do Whatever The Heck You Want Day.
