BrewsNews_final[3Yesterday the Grapevine city council finally approved the plans for Grapevine Craft Brewery to officially brew craft beer in Grapevine. “We’ve been at this for two years,” Gary Humble says. “Our intent was to always be in Grapevine, but a series of issues came up and we couldn’t get it done.” Faced with a delay and incoming equipment, Humble moved the operation to Farmers Branch and began brewing and distributing in November 2013. Eventually all of the problems got worked out and Humble will start building the real Grapevine Craft Brewery one block of Main Street in downtown Grapevine. The 10,200-square-foot space will include a retail area and a 2,800-square-foot outdoor beer garden. “We had a lot of reasons to quit,” Humble says. “But everyone from the city officials down to the people of the community have kept us going.” They expect to be up and running in Feburary 2015. The Farmers Branch site has been sold to 3 Nations Brewing headed up by brewmaster, Gavin Secchi formerly of Karbach and Goose Island.

Meanwhile in Carrollton, father and son duo Sam and Rick Ali of Lone Star Beverages are adding to their crafty portfolio. Look for Lone Star Taps and Caps to open in Lewisville this fall. The shop will offer 50 taps of craft beers and ciders from all over the world. They claim to be “the first retail establishment to offer to-go growlers north of 635. Hmm. That could be up for debate. Humperdinks? Bragging rights aside, and new craft beer news is good news.
