“Young American Talent” at the H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery of El Centro College – March 27: 6-8 p.m. 801 Main Street, Dallas, Tx 75202.

El Centro hosts an annual exhibition of high school work sponsored by the Visual Arts Guild of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

Jeff Williams: Visiting Artist Lecture” at the Greer Garson Theatre — March 27: 6:30-8 p.m. 6101 Bishop, Dallas, Texas 75275.

For an intro to Williams, check out this interview on might be good:

I always worry that institutional critique implies that the viewer isn’t already in on the discussion, as though the artist is revealing something previously overlooked or unknown. That seems like the wrong way to approach an audience. With both the Dust Storm and at PRH, the critique is the point of departure. Everyone understands the various arguments, and my interest has more to do with how I can contribute to the discussion through an installation, sculpture, etc.

The Urban Fabric: a solo exhibition featuring works by Justin Terveen at Kettle Art Gallery — March 28: 7-10 p.m. 2714 Elm, Dallas, Texas 75226.

If you frequent Facebook or the Dallas Observer’s blog, you’ve seen Terveen’s skyline porn: lip-smacking, twinkly photos of Dallas, usually at dusk or in lightning storms, seeming plucked from a localized folder of generic wallpaper on the latest release of Windows.

UPDATE: THIS SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED. The Safe Room, Show #1- Cassandra Emswiler “Canticles Of Praise” at The Texas Theatre — March 30: 7-11 p.m. 231 W Jefferson Blvd. Dallas, TX 75208, Dallas, TX 75208.

The proprietors of the Texas Theatre have been trying various approaches to programming the old office area above the marquee, still fitted with a multi-thousand pound old safe, since the place opened a couple years ago. It looks like they will launch a series of exhibitions in “The Safe Room,” beginning with artist and frequent FrontRow contributor Cassandra Emswiler. Emswiler’s exhibit incorporates both ceramic tiles, which explore the origin of mass-produced design, and sound.

Gloria presented by The Green Bandana Group at Conduit Gallery — March 30: 8 p.m. – 2 p.m. 1626 Hi Line Dr., Ste. Dallas, TX 75207.

The Green Bandana group promises to change your life with the first in a new series of “cutting edge” events it will throw this year that “blur the line between party and art” (that is, if such a line actually exists in Dallas in the first place). In addition to the art, there will be performances by The Danny Church Band, poets Will Richey, Darryl Ratcliff, David Ratcliff, and Roberto Munguia, and The Mood Swing DJs. Plus, lots of free booze, and you are encouraged to wear hats, crowns, and headdresses.

SINATRA : Circuit12 1 Year Anniversary Party at Circuit 12 Contemporary — March 30: 8 a.m. – 2 a.m. 1130 Dragon St. Suite 150, Dallas, TX 75207.

And speaking of parties, this Saturday you can raise a glass to the first year anniversary of Circuit 12, certainly a welcomed addition to the mix. This party demands you dress up in Rat Pack attire to enjoy the go-go dancers, gaming tables, Playboy bunny cocktail waitresses, full bar, photo area, and more. See, what line?
