Yet Another High Profile Performing Arts Center Exit

The Vice President of External Affairs at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, Jill Magnuson, has left the organization to become the Director of External Affairs at the Nasher Sculpture Center, the sculpture museum announced yesterday. Magnuson’s switch is the latest in a series of personnel changes at the Performing Arts Center, which began with the resignation of CEO Mark Nerenhausen earlier this year. Jill Magnuson Named Director of External Affairs for Dallas’ Nasher Sculpture Center

DALLAS, Texas – October 11, 2010  – The Nasher Sculpture Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Jill Magnuson as the new Director of External Affairs. Ms. Magnuson will begin her position on November 1, 2010.

With 25 years of arts and community related experience, Ms. Magnuson fills the role as the Nasher Sculpture Center nears its ten-year anniversary and continues to position the world renowned modern and contemporary art collection as a local, regional and national asset.  Working closely with Director Jeremy Strick, Ms. Magnuson’s appointment signals the focus on the Nasher as a collaborative Dallas Arts District partner as well as a vibrant arts center with a unique international reputation.

“Jill Magnuson’s experience at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, as well as her volunteer work for a broad array of Dallas community organizations–including board positions at the Dallas Arts District and the Dallas Center for Architecture Foundation–make her ideally suited to lead External Affairs at the Nasher Sculpture Center, as we move to expand awareness of the Nasher nationally and internationally, while deepening and extending our ties within this community,” said Jeremy Strick, Director of the Nasher Sculpture Center.

Ms. Magnuson most recently spent eight years as an integral part of the new AT&T Performing Arts Center serving as public relations consultant and later as head of external affairs overseeing the press office, community relations, governmental and board relations and special events for the Center as it readied for its 2009 Grand Opening which drew local, national and international acclaim.   As a founding Board member of the Dallas Arts District organization, Ms. Magnuson’s integrated approach to arts collaborations will continue to foster the growth of the Arts District as she leads the Nasher’s communications efforts.

Prior to working at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, Ms. Magnuson owned Magnuson Communications, servicing a broad range of notable North Texas area clients, including Levenson Brinker Public Relations, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Entertainment Collaborative, Eiseman and deBoulle jewelers and others. She has overseen comprehensive communications programs and lead innovative marketing, advertising and special event programs for more than a decade collectively for the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and March of Dimes.
