Komodo Dallas Announces Open Date

David Grutman, a Miami restaurateur whose hospitality group includes restaurants, hotels, and nightclubs, will open his latest restaurant at The Epic building on April 7, according to a press release.

Komodo is an Asian-inspired eatery with a wildly popular following in Miami. Its location at The Epic is Groot Hospitality’s first in Dallas and it’s enormous. It’ll be nearly 23,000 square feet.

Known for its luxe décor and craft cocktails, the restaurant will span two stories with seating for more than 250 diners on the edge of Deep Ellum and downtown Dallas. Its menu includes favorites from its sister location in Miami, like the Peking duck, but it’ll also have a special Szechuan Texas quail that will be exclusive to Komodo Dallas.

Addison Gets Another Healthy Food Chain

Sweetgreen opened its Addison location Tuesday in a 3,117 square-foot space on the corner of Belt Line Road and Montfort Drive in Addison. The health-focused fast-casual eatery is known for its grain bowls, salads, and plates. Sweetgreen is in a hotspot of healthy food choices: down the street is Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant Cava, and across Montfort Drive are Flower Child and juice store Pressed.

Sip Coffee and Adopt a Cat in Eat Dallas

Whiskers and Soda, a café where patrons can mingle with cats available for adoption, opened March 25 in East Dallas. The cafe is membership-based, but you don’t have to be a member to visit—although there is an entrance fee. (A membership means you can make reservations in advance, pay less to visit, and have access to other benefits and discounts.)

The café was started in partnership with A Voice For All Paws, a cat rescue group. CultureMap also reports that next to the café is Griffin Rock Cat Retreat, a cat boarding facility. Check out the website for current seating space—members can book ahead for reservation times, but single visits are based on availability.
