Let’s Gawk at the Latest Absurd Luka Doncic Shot

Just another day in the life.

Just because the Mavericks are off the clock doesn't mean Luka is. Yukihito Taguchi-USA TODAY Sports.

Maybe it’s because he got to play Rudy Gobert again. Maybe because his countryman, Iztok Franko, was in the crowd. Or maybe it’s because he wanted to celebrate StrongSide’s first birthday in style. Whatever the reason, Luka Doncic went nuclear this afternoon in EuroBasket, powering Slovenia to an upset win over France by scoring 47 points, the second-highest total in tournament history and the most since Belgium’s Eddy Terace dropped 63 all the way back in 1957.

So, that’s fun. But this is the shot that will one day wind up in his documentary:

How?

Slovenia heads into the 16-team knockout stage as the top seed out of its group. TBD on whether Iztok will be there, but either way, he’ll bless us with a trip recap once he’s back home. I suspect he’ll have a thing or two to say about seeing this one in person.
