Texas' positivity rate passes 10 percent and a spike in cases in children in Fort Worth.

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported a three day total of 1,453 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths on Tuesday.


Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth reported a spike in COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with more than 60 children a day testing positive for the virus. A hospital spokeswoman says 13 children are currently in the hospital with COVID-19, the highest numbers the hospital has seen since February. The surge comes as school districts in the area are preparing for the start of in-person school in fewer than three weeks. Read more with The Dallas Morning News.


In Texas, the positivity rate of the coronavirus has crossed a 10% “red zone” threshold, indicating that the highly transmissible delta variant of COVID-19 is spreading rampantly among the unvaccinated, The Texas Tribune reports. Some of the state’s largest counties are asking residents – even those who are vaccinated – to wear masks again.
