Baylor Scott and White, Texas Health, and Medical City all took top spots as the best places to have a baby in North Texas. Readers of various Child magazines voted several North Texas hospitals as the best places to have a baby. Over 9,000 voters participated in the 2020 survey.

DallasChild readers selected Baylor University Medical Center for Dallas County’s choice, Medical City Plano was voted Collin County’s best place to have a baby by readers of CollinChild, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth was named Tarrant County’s selection for best place to have a baby, and in Denton County, readers named Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton.

“Medical City Plano is honored to be recognized by our community for our commitment to providing exceptional, high-quality and specialized care for mothers and babies,” Medical City Plano CEO Carlton Ulmer said via release. “It is our privilege to help patients design a unique birthing experience just right for each mother, baby and family, while also offering the highest levels of medical care.”

This year marks the 23rd time Texas Health Harris has been awarded “Best Place to Have a Baby” by readers of the magazine. FortWorthChild lists its variety of options for families—for example, offering tub births and gentle C-sections—among the hospital’s reasons for being chosen. Last year, Texas Health Harris delivered 3,093 babies.

“Receiving this honor again shows how much emphasis we place on the input we receive from our patients to help focus and drive the value of their care,” said Lindsey Canon, director of nursing for women, infants and children at the hospital, via release. “This honor means a lot to us because it based on the preference of consumers in our area.”

Texas Health Denton is currently undergoing a $128 million renovation that will add 160,000 square feet to the hospital, including an added 12 labor and delivery rooms, 30 postpartum and antepartum beds and two dedicated surgical suites for C-sections. Last year, the hospital delivered 2,079 babies. Readers of NorthTexasChild named the hospital’s responsive physicians and its NICU and delivery rooms as among its most attractive attributes.

“We’re especially proud of this recognition because it’s based on consumer feedback,” said Jeff Reecer, FACHE, president of Texas Health Denton, via release. “And the feedback from families in the Denton area is that we’re doing a great job. That’s very rewarding and makes us strive for even higher levels of clinical excellence and second-to-none service.”
