The Cardiovascular Rehabilitation program at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Stephenville has has received certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Over the last 34 years, the Association has granted certification to institutions which follow national guidelines for high levels of advancement in comprehensive patient experience as well as improved overall patient outcomes. The Association looks especially for facilities which approach treatment through a program of preventative education, “prehab”, and rehabilitation in order to empower patients toward monitored self-management.
The cardiovascular rehabilitation regimen at Texas Health Stephenville involves exercise, instruction and counseling, and also offers support resources for patients and family members. “Out of all the factors that determine quality of life for a person with cardiovascular disease, improvement in functional capacity from exercising is the most powerful,” says Dr. Brandie Williams of the newly accredited program via release.
Receiving this distinction requires that facilities undergo an involved application process and close examination of the program’s functions. The accreditation focuses particularly on blood pressure control, decreased tobacco usage, decline in cases of depression and physical capacity progress. It is the only peer-reviewed certification intended to reward individual programs for meeting the standards of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. This accreditation places Texas Health Stephenville in the company of cardiac rehab programs in Allen, Arlington, Burleson, Bedford, Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth, Plano and Willow Park. Crystal Allen.
