UT Southwestern Medical Center is the No. 1 hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth for the third year in a row, according to U.S. News and World Report‘s 2019-2020 annual Best Hospitals listing, which also ranked UTSW as the second best hospital in Texas. Baylor University Medical Center is No. 2 in DFW, and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas is No. 3 in the region.
Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital- Fort Worth came in at No. 4. while Medical City Dallas, Baylor Scott and White All Saints Medical Center- Fort Worth, and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital South West tied for the 5th ranking on the list for DFW.
The rankings are determined by risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators. The list assesses hospital’s performances in 16 specialty areas, and nine areas of procedures and conditions.
UT Southwestern was nationally ranked in seven specialties, placing them within the top 50 of 4,500 medical centers evaluated by the publication this year. They include Neurology & Neurosurgery, Geriatrics, Nephrology, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Urology, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Ear, Nose & Throat.

At Baylor, Scott and White, four of the system’s hospitals were ranked in the top 50 in at least one specialty. BUMC was ranked in gynecology, BSW The Heart Hospital – Plano was ranked for Cardiology and Heart Surgery, BSW – Plano was ranked in Gastroenterology & GI Surgery and Pulmonology & Lung Surgery, and BSW Institute for Rehabilitation – Dallas was ranked in Rehabilitation.

Texas Health Resources facilities rounded out the top five in DFW, and Texas Health Presbyterian was ranked in orthopedics specialty, colon cancer surgery, COPD, heart bypass surgery, heart failure and hip replacement.
