The Emergency Department at Medical City Las Colinas is adding six patient rooms to the 12-bed unit as part of a $14.5 million renovation project.

The expansion to the 100-bed acute care facility also includes a new trauma room, a 64-slice CT scanner dedicated to the emergency room, and an updated waiting area. The improvement is part of a $1.7 billion capital investment over the entire Medical City Healthcare system.

Other improvements throughout the system over the past several months have included the opening of Medical City Women’s Hospital Arlington, a $60 million facility targeting women’s health, which added 55 beds and 125,000 square feet to the existing hospital. Medical City Children’s opened a pediatric cancer unit to the 208-bed Medical City Children’s Hospital, which included 12 patient rooms equipped with the latest amenities. Medical City McKinney added 36 private inpatient rooms, 11 emergency treatment rooms, and expanded imaging services in a $55 million expansion.

“We are proud to grow with the community and provide family-focused and lifesaving emergency care to our community,” said Daniela Decell, CEO of Medical City Las Colinas, via release. “This project is further evidence of our continued commitment to the care and improvement of human life.”
