Fortress Fest announced the full artist lineup for its fourth edition this morning, returning to the outdoor lawn of Will Rogers Coliseum on April 25 and 26. Diplo, Miguel, Cuco, and Big K.R.I.T. will headline the Fort Worth-based independent festival, which has continued its multi-genre approach this year, though it does seem to be targeting a more specific, festival-going audience with a larger portion of hip-hop, R&B, and dance pop acts.
Fortress has also continued to highlight several Dallas area artists alongside its national acts. There’s once-North Texan rapper Snow Tha Product; up-and-coming local Kaash Paige, who recently signed with Def Jam; Dallas’ Rakim Al-Jabbaar; and Fort Worth rappers Renizance and Smoothvega.
Rock fans can look forward to folksy singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten; London’s Kero Kero Bonito; Brooklyn indie-pop group Wet; as well as another crop of local artists including post-punk band Rosegarden Funeral Party, singer-songwriter Tippy Balady, electro-pop duo Prizm, singer Remy Reilly, pop-rock project Son of Stan, and jazz-fusion outfit Kwinton Gray Project.
Finally, any kind of music fan should be excited to hear that The Free Nationals round out the lineup. The soul band is best known for playing alongside Anderson .Paak, but after releasing their self-titled debut album in December, it’s safe to say they stand on their own just fine.
While the musical stages will be confined to the Will Rogers Coliseum lawn, Fortress Festival includes the entire Cultural District in its “footprint.” So, no, you can’t jump into the Modern’s reflecting pool while dancing to your favorite artists, but a festival pass does offer admission to the museum, including late-night hours through the weekend.
General admission and VIP passes for both days are available now with “early bird” pricing; $89 for GA and $209 for VIP.
