Review: Sea Breeze Fish Market & Grill

Treat your taste buds to a quirky delicacy known as the lobster roll.

Used to be that you had to drive up Route 1 in Maine to sample the quirky delicacy known as the lobster roll. But this New England specialty has become a mini sensation in the Big Apple and now comes our way, too, at Sea Breeze Fish Market & Grill, at Lakeside Market in Plano.

Oh, the Mansion on Turtle Creek serves one, too, but it’s predictably froufrou. Sea Breeze does it the way they do it at Red’s Eats in Wiscasset: chunks of cooked lobster in mayonnaise with chopped celery and tarragon, stuffed into a hot dog roll that has been buttered and toasted. Some might see this as a waste of good lobster. For others, it’s bliss.

Sea Breeze comes from Rick Oruch, a seafood savant who has procured fish for Central Market and Whole Foods as well as at his own seafood shop in the ’90s. He partnered with businessman Mark Alterman and chef Todd Lindsey to open this combination market-restaurant. You can buy your fish fresh to cook at home, or sit down and have it grilled, fried, folded into tacos, or steamed in a medley—with a glass of wine to boot.
