In Japan, soba noodles are eaten on New Year’s Eve as a symbol of the year’s passing, but there’s no reason such a healthful delight should be limited to once a year. The noodles are made from buckwheat, which is rich in proteins, vitamin B, and choline (a metabolism aid). And there’s no better place to enjoy them than Tei-An, Teiichi Sakurai’s newest Zen den. The Japanese noodle house is devoted to the delicacy. One Arts Plaza, 1722 Routh St., Ste. 110. 214-220-2828.
