We will be heading over to the Dallas Museum of Art on Saturday for the BooksmART Festival, celebrating children’s authors and illustrators like Norton Juster, Jerry Pinkney and David Wiesner.  There will be crafts, workshops and kids activities going all day long.

6.11 / BooksmART Festival / Dallas Museum of Art /11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

As a family who dines out often, we are always looking for restaurants that appeal to us parents (good food, good wine, esthetically pleasing decor and locally owned) and can accommodate the kiddos (kids menu and a venue who doesn’t mind their company)  In the past week we have eaten at Offshores Nextdoor twice. It has a great patio that is enclosed so you don’t feel like you are eating in a parking lot (unfortunately very common around town) and the food is great. I enjoy the super laid back atmosphere and love the decor–it reminds me of a sleepy beach town joint. It’s great place to grab dinner after a family bike ride or walk around White Rock Lake.

One of my favorite discoveries since moving to Dallas is the Mesquite Rodeo. I am obsessed! Every season we try to go two or three times. There’s nothing like sipping on cheap wine, eating corny dogs, and cheering on the Barrel Racers. (warning: get in that face painting line early!)

Every Friday and Saturday night June 3rd – August 27th / Mesquite Rodeo
