When I Went: December 4-11, 2011

Was That the Best Time of Year to Go? Absolutely! Early December is right before the holiday crowd hits, so nothing was super crowded or overbooked. The weather is gorgeous year-round, and rain held off until our very last day. The humpback whales are also often migrating by the island around this time of year, so there is also the opportunity to see one or two of those–amazing!

Why I Went There: It was our honeymoon!

Who Went With Me? My husband

We Stayed Here: We stayed at the Grand Wailea Resort.

You Won’t Want to Miss: You have to rent a Jeep or a convertible and EXPLORE! Maui has so much to offer outside of the hotel you stay at. My husband and I would just hop in the Jeep every morning and just drive and I’m pretty sure we saw 75 percent of the island. We also took a boat out to Molokini Crater and snorkeled with the sea turtles, and that was great.

Eat Here: We stumbled upon a really great breakfast place called Kihei Caffe up the road from our hotel and ended up eating there three times that week! The food is incredible, and the service was friendly and quick. We also ate dinner at Ferraro’s at the Four Seasons. There is NO better view in all of Maui to have dinner. Incredible!

Play Here: Molokini Crater, Road to Hana (everyone needs to do this!). Also, when in Hawaii one MUST go see a luau. You just gotta 🙂

If I Went Again: Stay longer? Never leave?

How Did You Get There From Dallas? We flew American Airlines from DFW straight into Maui (OGG). It was a nonstop flight, about 7-8 hours, but not bad at all!

Other Tips For Fellow Travelers: Everyone needs to experience Maui at least once in their lives. The AIR even smells good there. It was a trip of a lifetime.
