It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Spring menus are popping up all over town. The rain has left the air patio-perfect cool. I enjoyed a quick, pre-concert meal at Boulevardier last night and it was lovely. I devoured a reddish pink hanger steak and haricot vert, but my friend’s bowl of pappardelle mixed with mascarpone, sweet corn, and fresh peas was the table favorite.
Reports from last week include a swing-and-a-miss to Chino Chinatown. One reader says “service was almost laughable. We ordered two apps. Only got one. With no flatware or napkins or even a plate.” Smart folks, they got up and left. “the great thing about Trinity Groves is that if things aren’t going so well you can just tab out and go eat somewhere else. Which is exactly what we did.” They ended up at Restro here they enjoyed “signature mimosas, tuna, and my husband had the steak and eggs.” Another evening, the same duo “visited Goodfriend for wine and those delicious chicken balls (whatever they’re called),” Lakewood Landing “for a cheap and delicious burger,” and “ended the week with some sable fish from TJ’s that was fantastic!” Nicely played, Margie.
Johnyalamo hit Luscher’s Red Hots and “believe it or not…ordered the salad.” He admits to being “a bit conflicted,” but he’s trying to lower his carbs. The “chunks of meat, chicken, and bacon, kept me feeling quite secure.” Brave admission, Mr. Alamo.
Ms. AmyS ventured to Henry’s Majestic to “sit outside” and enjoy “the meat and cheese plate with excellent quality and variety.” She warns: “Don’t miss the Arancini, ours came out crispy, hot and gooey. Farmers Chicken salad and the Reuben all worthy of our appetites as well.”
