Elias Pope, owner of HG Sply Co., is getting ready to open Remedy, an American cuisine restaurant at 2010b Greenville Avenue. He hired Danyele McPherson from The Grape as the executive chef. Today they announced the addition of Guillermo “GMO” Tristan as executive pastry chef. Tristan has toiled at Boulevardier and FT 33. Together they will serve a menu “that is all about ‘back to basics’ but with polished technique.” What does that mean?

McPherson says, “This is food everyone has eaten before – the idea is not completely foreign – you have a memory of eating it as a child.  We are taking familiar and simple ideas and executing them at what we hope is the highest level possible.  We want to take these familiar food items and turn them into refined dishes.  Remedy is not about sourcing exotic ingredients, it’s about sourcing the best ingredients possible and making the best fish sandwich, BLT, grilled cheese, pork chop, pot pie etc that we possibly can. The menu is inspired by food my mom would make when I was growing up. We will also be serving a large selection of vegetarian dishes. It’s important to me that there be something for everyone at Remedy.”

Desserts will include homemade pies and ice cream sundaes. In the press release, Tristan says, ““This is a simple pie and ice cream menu – no cakes.” No cakes? Don’t you know coconut cake cures the misery of a common cold? Opening projected for late November/early December. No cakes. That’s just wrong.
