Luna’s Tortilla Factory is Re-Opening at 2555 Connector Drive

The old tortilla restaurant is finding its home again for the third time.

Back in June 2013, a fire destroyed Luna’s Tortilla Factory, a family-owned restaurant that opened in 1924. Plans for a new Luna’s Tortilla Factory, though, have been underway for quite some time.

Luna’s Tortilla Factory’s first location was at McKinney Avenue, and Harry Hines is where Luna’s Tortillas made its second home. Next door, Restaurante Luna’s, which opened in 2011, has kept the tortilla show going, despite the rubble that now takes the place of the factory and 90-year-old business. In the restaurant world, that kind of longevity is unheard of.

The restaurant will continue to reinvent itself by building a new Luna’s Tortilla Factory at 2555 Connector Drive, which is about 3 miles away from Restaurante Luna’s. Owner Fernando Luna’s niece, Maria, says that the new place should be open within the next month.

“It’s going to be bigger and better, with a patio, bar, restaurant, and tortilla factory. You’ll even be able to see the tortilla production as it’s going. it’s going to be glass and see-through.”

The new Luna’s Tortilla Factory will keep a lot of the old family recipes, with the addition of a couple new ones.
