There was a packed house at Sutra in Plano last night as attendees enjoyed the first event of the 2011 Dallas Wine and Food Festival. Sutra served a four-course meal and the Angelika Film Center, just steps away, conducted a special showing of the romantic comedy Today’s Special.

Guests dined on appetizers such as coriander chicken, mussels Cataplana, and Bombay samosa with garbanzo chaat. Main courses consisted of either Punjabi chicken makhni, Kerala salmon fish curry or Jaipur malai kofta. And desserts were hyderabadi bread pudding and Rajasthani malai kulfi. The wines served were Oregon Pinot Gris and California Pinot Noir, both supplied by Glazer’s.

The Dallas Wine and Food Festival will continue tonight with the Rising Star Chefs Dinner at the Nasher Sculpture Center.
