I distinctly remember the time when my family moved into our home in the 90s. Seeing the world’s most hideous wallpaper plastered all over your room will do that to a young girl. Truthfully though, it probably wasn’t that bad, but I was very young, and it was ripped off the walls so quickly that I probably didn’t get a great look at it. (It was some sort of dried, pressed flowers situation with a gray backdrop… not a lot of fun.) But scarring memories aside, wallpaper has certainly come a long way from its drab, dingier days.
Great use of wallpaper can infuse freshness and creativity and can elevate the style of a room immensely, but as with any big, bold move, potential for failure (or in this case, potential for tackiness) is inevitable. If you’re considering taking the wallpaper plunge, peruse our slideshow for a little inspiration from the people who’ve seriously nailed it.
