At the end of a long day, it’s nice to have a special treat waiting at home. Maybe it’s a favorite magazine sitting in your mailbox, a tasty adult beverage, or dessert left over from the night before. It exciting to look forward to things.

I like to apply this same sense of anticipation when I’m decorating my space, so I put a lot of thought into strategically placing art and accessories. When placed with intention, a beautiful piece can coax us from space to space and make the destination all the more satisfying. Case-in-point, the hallway. They can be so long and boring! My friend Brittany (Ed. it’s a Brittany day around  here friends) placed this vibrant piece of art at the end of her corridor and the result is truly striking!!

So, for those of you with humdrum hallways, try this. Find a large, bold piece of artwork (it doesn’t have to be pricey) and hang it right smack dab in the middle of the end. It’s eye candy you won’t be able to resist and will coax you back to other pretty places.

And speaking of eye candy, you can see even more from Brittany’s home in the July/August issue of D Home and on Our Style Stories.  Happy ogling!
