THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A FREE TRANSIT DAY

|

All public transit is free today. Yesterday, at about 5:30, this sounded like a good idea to me. And it probably still is–just not for me (and that’s all that really counts, now isn’t it?). As long-suffering readers of FB know, Adam and I live a block from each other. So yesterday we sat down at his laptop and plugged in our address(es) to DART’s trip planner. I figured taking the bus(es) to work would be an exciting adventure. But the trip planner failed us. From what we could gather, our neighborhood (Old Lake Highlands) isn’t served by a sufficient number of bus routes. Or something. We turned our attention to the bus routes themselves, but after staring at the route map for upwards of two minutes, we both felt a throbbing in our temples, not to mention other various and sundry parts of our anatomy from having spent so much time in such close proximity, staring at his computer. But I digress.

End result: I drove to work today. And I agree with Joe Bob Briggs, who writes about DART in our August issue. Joe Bob says the trip planner is no good. I say check out his article, on newsstands in a couple days.
