Caring, attentive management = happy employees = happier clients. That’s how they do things at Imagique, a unique concept salon/spa that leases out “suites” to stylists, nail techs, masseurs and estheticians rather than the “stations” leased out by most salons. The management team is dedicated to providing clients and employees with a clean, sleek, inviting location that makes them all feel special. Each suite comes standard with gorgeous floors, cabinets and counters as well as a refrigerator, phone line, flat panel tv, XM radio, wifi and whatever equipment they need based on their specialty (memory foam massage tables for masseurs, shampoo bowls, chairs and hair dryers for stylists and massaging pedicure chairs for nail technicians). Renters can then decorate as they wish and carry whatever product lines they desire. I got a fabulous pedicure from Lisa at Lisa Nail and let me tell you the managers did not skimp on the pedicure chairs. Wow! I almost didn’t need my massage afterward. Almost. Thank goodness for masseur-magnifique Kathy Bartek whose expertise in postural muscle balancing helped me to see how injurious my workstation is. She showed me how my back was curving to compensate for the way I sit all day and she not only worked the muscles to perfection but gave me some exercises to do at home to help alleviate the problem. I was amazed that she could tell the exact position of my body at my desk just by feeling my muscles. As some of the employees at Imagique, Kathy shares her suite with another masseur, Julie Smith-Centeno whose theraputic massage style is perfect for those who are uncomfortable with being touched. She specializes in medical massage, pregnancy massage and even coaches families about wellness and stress management. Seriously, this place has it all. The location, which opened in January, is right across from the Nylo Hotel so if you have out-of-towners staying with you be sure to send them over. And while you’re at it, book an appointment for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
