When I Went: July 5-10, 2011
Was That the Best Time of Year to Go? It is particularly great in late September/early October. Fall in Missouri is beautiful. The leaves actually change colors, and the weather is perfect for enjoying everything the city has to offer.
Why I Went There: St. Louis is my hometown. I was in a wedding, but decided to stay for the weekend because it is amazing in the summer.

You Won’t Want to Miss: A St. Louis Cardinals baseball game, a brewery tour at Schlafy’s or Anheuser Busch, Forest Park (Specifically, the St. Louis Zoo, the Boathouse, Forest Park Golf Course, and the St. Louis Art Museum; all of the museums and the zoo are free.), the Muny, the Gateway Arch, and a drink on the rooftop bar (Cielo Bar) at the Four Seasons (the best view of downtown St. Louis).
Eat Here: Araka, The Tavern, Ted Drewes, Pappy’s Smokehouse, Dewey’s Pizza, and Kaldi’s Coffee.
Play Here: The breweries (see above), Forest Park (see above), the City Museum, West County Center, Laclede’s Landing, and City Garden.
If I Went Again: Visit Historic St. Charles, bike the Katy Trail, and go to the Missouri Botanical Garden.
How Did You Get There From Dallas? Southwest offers the cheapest and easiest flights to St. Louis from Dallas. The drive is 10 hours. I don’t recommend it.
