Members of the Police and Fire Pension May Have to Pay Back Funds Taken. Although the city has agreed to add an additional billion dollars over 30 years, they are proposing a few stinging solutions to compensate for the almost $4 billion shortfall. One of these proposed solutions would require police and firefighters to pay back all of the interest earned on Deferred Option Retirement accounts, which would lead to an additional billion dollars saved.

Former Texas Governor and Potential Energy Secretary Rick Perry Resigns From Energy Transfer Partners Board. His Dec. 31 resignation from the Dallas-based company’s board of directors was outlined in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing made public Thursday. Perry, who received campaign donations from energy executives throughout his political career, was expected to face criticism over his ties to the industry. We should all be so lucky to land the lead position in a job we were going to eliminate yet couldn’t recall.

The Architects Behind the Cowboys’ Stadium Will Design the Rangers’ New Park. On Thursday, we got a look at Dallas-based HKS’s design that will replace Globe Life Park in 2020. Some elements, such as the stadium’s retro styling, will carry over into the new facility. The firm intends to integrate the park with new entertainment venues and surrounding sidewalks.

Cowboy Randy Gregory Lands a Yearlong Suspension After a Third Failed Drug Test. The defensive end has also been banned from taking the field during the playoffs. Gregory played in the team’s final two games of the regular season after sitting out the first 14 due to back-to-back failed drug tests.

Lockhart Smokehouse Feeds 700 of Dallas’ Homeless After Their Water Meter Goes Missing. Beginning Wednesday, the Bishop Arts restaurant’s water was trickling out in the kitchen and absent in the bathrooms, leaving management in a bind for a Thursday lunch rush. Instead of allowing the already prepared food to go to waste, the restaurant delivered it to The Stewpot and The Bridge. All’s well that ends well.

We Could See Snow Flurries This Afternoon. The best chance will be between 1-5 p.m., but it’s not expected to stick.  It will, however, be very cold with a high in the twenties. Just as a precaution (and for future reference), we have a few suggestions on how to cope with Texas weather.
