Answers by Whitney A. Walker, Founder and CEO

Please give us a brief history of your company.
Founded in 1991, we are one of the last artisanal hardware companies in the U.S. specializing in hand-forging, hand-casting, hand-painting, and hand-finishing everything from drapery rods to finials to solid iron bed canopies.

Are you to the trade only? Is there a way for customers without representation to shop your lines?
Ninety-nine percent of our business is to the trade. Retail clients may shop on our website, but they do not have access to wholesale prices or designer drapery panels.

How many styles do you have in stock at any given time?
T
here are 27,000 variations, but we have four collections available online.

You utilize a lot of sustainable or upcycled materials. Why is that important to you?
There is no reason a piece of plastic window hardware should have a half-life of 10,000 years. We use upcycled aluminum, upcycled glass, and upcycled iron. We use only sustainable, reforested American wood. It costs more, but our children’s future is worth it. We only use zero and low V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints versus high V.O.C., toxic, ozone-destroying paints, spray-can paints, or plastic finishes. Using non-toxic paints is important for the health of the planet, our employees, and the air quality in your home.
