Thumbs Up to the Dallas Chamber of Commerce, recently recognized by the President’s Citation Program for Private Sector Initiatives for its Adopt-A-School program and Leadership Development. The chamber was one out of 30 winners selected from more than 1,000 entries from around the country. DCC Chairman John Johnson and President Forrest Smith received the award in Washington from President Ronald Reagan in June. The Adopt-A-School program involves local businesses working with the Dallas Independent School District to donate money and special services; the Leadership Development program supports the placement of minorities and women on civic and charitable boards and committees.
